An attractive cultivar with light green leaves of wide, irregular, bright yellow margin.
WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: An attractive cultivar with light green leaves of wide, irregular, bright yellow margin. The leaves are elliptical, roughly serrated, glossy. If the plant is located in a deep shade, the leaves lose their yellow coloring. In autumn and winter some of them turn orange or red. Flowers inconspicuous, greenish-white, without a decorative value, appear in July.
HOW IT GROWS: Evergreen shrub; scrambling shoots with aerial roots that enable the plant to spread and climb. Moderately strong-growing with annual growth of 0.5 m, the upward shoots reach 0.5-1 m height. Grown along a support (e.g. a fence or a tree) may climb as high as 3-4 m.
WHERE TO PLANT: it survives in both sunny and shaded sites. Thrives in fertile, moist, humus-rich soil, but withstands also average or even poor soil. Tolerates urban environment.
HOW TO PLANT AND GROW: Before planting, immerse the potted plant in a water-filled container for 10-30 min. Place the plant in a 30 x 30 x 30 cm pit, with a 10-cm layer of well-rotten manure or compost soil at the bottom, 0.5-1 cm deeper than it was planted before. Fill the pit with fertile soil. Plant 7-9 pcs / m2. Prune 1-2 times a year to the height of 20-30 cm and additionally when it spreads excessively.
HOW TO APPLY: A great groundcover in home gardens as well as in urban greenery. It climbs when planted next to a support. Grows over tree trunks, walls, fences and any other rough surface. May be formed into low hedges or borders. Looks well interwoven into other plants.
