Small white flowers, borne in great profusion, decorate the plant from the beginning of August till the first frosts. Ovate-lanceolate, green leaves fall off after severe frosts.
Requirements
Thrives in fertile, moist but well drained soil, but will do well in average soil. It prefers sunny sites but will tolerate slight shade. It grows well in urban conditions or along the roads. It may freeze during severe winters, but in spring the stems will grow back from the base of the plant covered with soil.
Application
It’s excellent as a screening plant for covering unsightly buildings and tall fences, pergolas, arbours, noise barriers and old tree trunks, provided they are strong enough to withstand the weight of the mass of greenery. Ideal for covering wire netting, it will create the desired effect in just a few weeks, but requires pruning every 2-3 weeks to prevent it from becoming excessively expansive. A good plant for public open spaces.
