An intriguing, new Polish cultivar with large (for this group), violet, bell-shaped flowers. It blooms from mid-April till the beginning of June. 

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: Mid-sized flowers (large for Atragene Group), 8-12 cm in diameter, single, violet, bell-shaped. They consist of 4 large violet sepals, paler on the outside, sparsely hairy, lanceolate. Stamens consist of yellow anthers set on light yellow-green filaments. It blooms most abundantly from mid-April until the beginning of June, some flowers appear also between July and August. Leaves large, trifoliate, dark green, wavy and twirled, matte on the top and glossy underneath.

HOW IT GROWS: Climber; climbs with leaf petioles. Moderately strong-growing. Reaches 2.5 m height.

WHERE TO PLANT: Best suited to well-lit but not overheated locations. Tolerates semi-shade. Thrives in moderately fertile and moist, well-drained soil. The soil pH should range from neutral to slightly acidic. Hardy (zone 4-9).

HOW TO PLANT AND GROW: Place the plant in a pit (60 x 60 x 60 cm) with fertile soil and a 10 cm draining layer at the bottom, 0.5-1 cm deeper than it grew in the container (planting tutorial). The cultivar is easy to maintain. Does not require pruning. The shoots spreading excessively may be pruned after the bloom, in May/June (pruning tutorial).

HOW TO APPLY: Useful especially as fence covers, may grow also over garden supports, rocks, fallen tree trunks, conifers or deciduous shrubs. May be used as a ground cover.
