A Polish, free-flowering cultivar of light blue blooms adorned with a lighter stripe. In the spring, it produces semi-double flowers; they are single in the summer. It thrives in sunny sites.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: Flowers are large, avg. 22 cm across, flat when fully open. Flowers appearing in summer are smaller, 16-17 cm across. They consist of 8 to 25 sepals, which are light blue with a lighter stripe, elliptical and pointed. Purple stamens on white filaments  contrast nicely with the petals. Semi-double flowers on last year's shoots, and single on new increments, appear 60 cm from the base of the plant. Blooms June-July and again September, but less abundantly. Leaves are dark green, stiff, pointed.

HOW IT GROWS: Climber; climbs by means of petioles. It is moderately strong growing, reaching 1,50-1,70 m in height.

WHERE TO PLANT: An undemanding climber. Prefers sunny locations. It thrives on fertile, permeable soils, but it tolerates most average soils as long as fertilizer is applied. The soil pH should be from neutral to slightly acidic. Hardy (zone 4-9).

HOW TO PLANT AND GROW: Place the plant in a 60 x 60 x 60 cm pit in fertile substrate with a 10 cm layer of gravel at the bottom, 5-10 cm deeper than it was before (planting tutorial). Only light pruning is required. At the turn of February and March, it is enough to cut back dead shoots, while the live ones can be pruned lightly: in the first year at 30 cm from the ground, above strong buds, in the second year ˗ at 70 cm, and in the following years at 150 cm (pruning tutorial). In mid-April apply slow-release fertilizer (e.g. Osmocote 5-6 M). Water during the season.

HOW TO APPLY: Suitable for planting by free-standing or wall supports, it looks especially nice against a light background. Blue flowers harmonize nicely with yellow-leaved shrubs.
