A new Polish cultivar raised by Szczepan Marczyński, with beautiful, large pink flowers with a yellow center.
WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: Large flowers, 18-20 cm in diameter. They consist of 14 sepals, bright pink turning paler as they fade, with a creamy stripe underneath. Stamens are yellow anthers set on white-creamy filaments. The main bloom occurs between mid-May and June, some flowers appear in July-September. Leaves are large (up to 10 cm), cordate, single or consisting of three leaflets.
HOW IT GROWS: Climber; climbs with leaf petioles. Moderately strong-growing, reaches 1.60-1.80 m height.
WHERE TO PLANT: Best suited for sunny locations. Thrives in fertile, permeable soil but will grow in most moderate soils if fertilized. The soil pH should be neutral to slightly acidic. Hardy (zone 4-9).
HOW TO PLANT AND GROW: Place the plant in a pit (60 x 60 x 60 cm) with fertile soil and a 10 cm draining layer at the bottom, 5-10 cm deeper than it grew in the container (planting tutorial). It only requires light pruning. At the turn of February and March, it is enough to remove the dead shoots, and prune the live ones: in the first year at 30 cm from the ground, above the strong buds, in the second year - 70 cm, and in the following years at the height of 150 cm (pruning tutorial). In mid-April it should be supplemented with a slow-release fertilizer (e.g. Osmocote 5˗6M). Water during the season.
HOW TO APPLY: Suitable for growing by free-standing supports or those placed by the walls, as well as for planting in containers on terraces and balconies.
