Fascinating Japanese cultivar of distinctly double flowers 12-15 cm in diameter, consisting of as many as 120 sepals. Sepals are elliptic, pointy, slightly wavy and pointing down. Light green when still in buds (hence the name - 'midori' means green in Japanese) with pink-toned tips, they turn white when opening. In full bloom they are white, sometimes with light green bar in the middle, light green margins and pinkish tips. Sepals are same coloured on both sides.  Underneath the flowers there are usually 6-12 bracts set on long leaf petioles. Anthers are cream-coloured, only visible in full bloom. Flowers are borne on previous year wood, nearly from the very base up, between second half of May till June. Dark green leaves are single or trifoliate. The plant reaches 1.2 m height. Climbs by leaf petioles.

It is useful for growing over low garden supports or in containers kept on a balcony or a terrace. Thrives in well-lit sites. It looks particularly attractive against dark background.
