Clematis varieties bred in our nursery win awards and distinction both in Poland and worldwide.

Medals on Plantarium 2010

We are very proud to announce that on PLANTARIUM 2010, an Arboricultural Trade Fair, Boskoop, Holland, three medals have been awarded to our nursery for the latest clematis hybrids bred by Szczepan Marczyński. The committee, appointed by Koninklijke Vereniging voor Boskoopse Culturen, has granted silver medal for Clematis ‘Mazury’ and two brown medals for Clematis ‘Królowa Jadwiga’ and Clematis ‘Vistula’.

 

 



In Press Prize competition the Clematis ‘Mazury’ has second place.

On this year committee assess also stands arrangement. Our stand received 9 point in 10-point scale.




Clematis ‘Mazury’ – silver medalClematis ‘Mazury’ – silver medal. A new Polish cultivar from 2006. Large (15-17 cm in diameter), double flowers on new growth – blue with lighter spots. The outer circle of the tepals is mottled with green.

Flowers have a nice, regular structure on opening and seem to be made of crêpe paper. When fully open they reveal creamy stamens. Flowers appear from the end of June to September. It grows up to 2-3 m using twining leaf petioles to attach itself to the supports.

Clematis ‘Mazury’ – silver medalBest grown in a sunny position. Particularly useful for growing up trellises, stakes and other supports. It can also be left to climb up natural supports.






Clematis ‘Królowa Jadwiga’ PBR – bronze medalClematis ‘Królowa Jadwiga’ PBR – bronze medal.

The latest Polish cultivar bred by Szczepan Marczyński with silky white round flat flowers, 15-16 cm across, composed of 8 oval tepals with slightly wavy edges and a prominent mid-rib. In spring, especially during cool weather, a greenish bar appears along the midrib.

The stamens are handsomely arranged in a form of a crown of purple anthers contrasting with white filaments. It flowers from the end of May to September. The deep-green leaves are composed of three large oval leaflets. Attractive round seedheads. It attains the height of 2-2,5 m and attaches itself to the support by means of twining leaf petioles.

Clematis ‘Królowa Jadwiga’ PBR – bronze medalUseful for growing on fences, arbours, trellises, poles and other garden supports. It can climb up natural supports such as deciduous and coniferous shrubs or dwarf shrubs that don’t require hard pruning. It looks particularly lovely when growing against a dark background. Suitable for container-growing.







Clematis ‘Vistula’ PBR – bronze medalClematis ‘Vistula’ PBR – bronze medal.

The latest Polish cultivar bred by Szczepan Marczyński with pale violet-blue flowers of about 15 cm across, composed of 6 oval tepals, long-tipped, wavy-edged. The stamens have yellow anthers on creamy filaments. It starts flowering in June but the bloom is the most profuse in August when other cultivars are already finishing their flowering period.


Clematis ‘Vistula’ PBR – bronze medalIt attains the height of 2,5-3 m and attaches itself to the support by means of twining leaf petioles. Useful for growing on arbours, fences, trellises, poles and various garden supports. It can climb up natural supports such as deciduous and coniferous shrubs or dwarf shrubs.
